About Sophia Kotliar

A magna cum laude graduate of Rutgers University, Dr. Sophia Kotliar earned a medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed fellowships in surgical pathology and cytopathology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Over a pathology career that has spanned more than 20 years, Dr. Sophia Kotliar has held leadership roles with numerous medical facilities across Delaware area, including Bayhealth Medical Center, Crozer-Keystone Medical Center, Union Hospital, and Wilmington VA Medical Center.

Dr. Sophia Kotliar also maintains a strong professional interest in medical informatics. Especially well versed in the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system, she has gained certification as an Epic Physician Builder and regularly attends Epic user groups meetings to stay up to date with best practices in the field. Dr. Kotliar draws on this training as an authority in Epic implementation with the Bayhealth Medical Center system in Delaware, where she serves on the Epic hospital operations steering committee and the Epic ambulatory steering committee.

In addition to her work with the organization’s medical-informatics initiatives, Dr. Sophia Kotliar holds several clinical-leadership positions as a pathologist with Bayhealth’s Kent General Hospital and Milford Memorial Hospital. Among other roles, she is the medical director of the point-of-care program and the medical director of clinical chemistry.
